Hello! I am Jude ... frequently known as "Mom" ... but even more often known as "Aunt Jude." I grew up in the fabulous 1950's in a small suburb next door to the Glamour Capital of the World ... Hollywood, California ... where my father served the motion picture industry, designing and engineering those amazing moving sets and props we see in films from that period. I was also blessed with a talented mother and my earliest memories are of our shared interests ... dolls, fabrics and sewing. I love designing and making clothes and began sewing when I was only five. My first teacher was my beloved mother, an extraordinary designer and professional seamstress. She and I spent many happy hours together, shopping textile stores that remain unrivaled today. My first attempt at sewing involved hand-stitching a tiny pocket to one of my doll's dresses while I sat near my mother [busy at her sewing machine, naturally] and silently watched her every move. In no time at all I was doing everything I could to get her lovely old Singer sewing machine all to myself. Thank you from the bottom of my heart Mom ... you are here with me in spirit everyday.
I spent more time at the machine that created magic than at my school work. In the beginning I made doll clothes and gifts, but moved on to dresses and party gowns for my activities in Job's Daughters. As many of you will recall, back then we wore "girlie" dresses and tailored suits to high school and our social calendars were filled with luncheons, dates, parties, dances and proms. During this time, I created my own wardrobe, which included several couturier-inspired gowns. The other girls always wanted to know the name of my "designer." As a young woman, I began my successful career as a professional designer of womens and childrens wear and furthered my expertise with international buying trips. Now that my children are grown, I have the time to combine a lifetime of knowledge with my fascination for dolls and am thoroughly enjoying myself, creating one-of-a-kind ensembles and sometimes ultra-limited editions.
Okay, I admit it ... I am one of those annoying perfectionists. I draft all my own patterns and am a stickler for correct fit, size and scale. Everything I make is invested with my love, care and attention to each tiny detail. Excellence ... and your complete satisfaction ... are extremely important to me. I use only the very finest vintage and new natural fiber fabrics, laces, trims and findings, which I acquire at no small expense. All my work is done in my clean, no-smoking home, where the air is climate controlled and electronically filtered round-the-clock. I strictly follow time-honored, classic sewing and tailoring techniques, including low profile linings and clean-finished seams so that every garment will last. When I make vintage reproductions, I remain true to the time period and will never use inappropriate modern finishing methods, such as serging.
My buyers frequently tell me that my doll clothes are as beautiful on the inside as they are on the outside!
When you purchase my doll clothes, you are assured of uncompromising quality. I want you to be thrilled. I guarantee, you will receive precision-sewn, hand-crafted heirloom quality pieces to be enjoyed by you, your daughters, and your granddaughters for many years to come ... and will be thoroughly pleased with the quality, workmanship and fit or your money will be promptly and cheerfully refunded.
There is only one Aunt Jude. You may know ladies named Judie, others named Judee, and some named Judy ... but these are not me. My creations are always labeled "Aunt Jude's Treasures."
At this time Aunt Jude is not affiliated with the manufacturers of any dolls or doll accessories.
